GUI 1.0.3.0, I doubt Indactance value

Dear All,

now I'm checking the specificaton of my original coil.

I found that the Indactance value which GUI(1.0.3.0) showed was wrong.

Because, I calculated inductance value with some parameters according to datasheet, but there was a difference.

I measured the inductance value at resonant frequency point with LCR meter, the value which I calculated was near to the value I measured.

In GUI 1.0.3.0,  inductance value is correct? (I doubt the calculation on GUI...)

Kindest Regard,

Edgard

  • Hello Edgard,

did you set the 'sensor capacitor' value in the GUI  (top left corner of the streaming panel) to reflect the capacitor value of your sensor?

  • Dear Ben Kasemsadeh,

    thanks for your reply.

Of course, I set "Sensor Capacitor Value".

    I set the parameter as below;

     Rp MAX: 349,066Ω(349.066k)

       Rp MIN: 38,785Ω (38.785k)

       Raw: about 26300

       Fext: 8MHz

       Fcount: 733273

       Response Time:6144

       Fsense: 22343.656Hz

       Capacitor:4700pF (I set!)

Then, GUI shows 5.487uH. But I calculated and it was 11mH.

    LCR meter showed 10mH.

    I wonder why?

If you could please give me your advice.

    Thanks at advance.

    Edgard

  • Hello Edgard,

this sounds like a GUI issue which has been fixed in the later GUI revisions. Please upgrade to the latest GUI and let me know if you still see an incorrect inductance value reported.

  • Dear Ben Kasemsadeh,

    thanks for you reply.

So I have a question; I heard GUI ver1.0.4.0 and GUI ver1.0.4.1 have some issues.

    Then I used GUI ver1.0.3.0.

Originally I did upgrade from ver1.0.3.0 to ver1.0.4.0, but my PC didn't work well.

In detail, Rp streaming data stopped.

Which is better, ver1.0.3.0 or ver1.0.4.1?

    Kindest Regards,

    Edgard

  • Hello Edgard,

rev 1.0.4.1 still has some issues, but a lot of improvements have gone into this revision. I recommend using rev 1.0.4.1.

  • Dear Ben Kasemsadeh,

now I'm using ver 1.0.4.1, but I have a trouble.

I got Rp LOG data a 1msec sampling.

Some times big amplitude pulse occurred. the 53msec duration pulses suddenly appeared.

On GUI screen, I watch it. It happend irregularly.

But at ver 1.0.3.0,  altough GUI didn't output Log, there were no pulse and the Rp value kept constant.

Does Ver 1.0.4.1 has the issue that  pulse unexpectedly occur? I doubt ver 1.0.4.1...

    Kindest Regards,

    Edgard

  • Hello Edgard,

this doesn't sound like a GUI issue. Have you followed the as per question "Using the LDC1000 EVM, how do I go about determining the correct Rp min and Rp max settings for my coil?" in our Inductive sensing FAQ?

Please also ensure that there are at least 5 codes difference between the Rpmin and Rpmax settings.

  • Dear Ben Kasemsadeh,

    thanks for your advice.

I followed your advice, even "Using the LDC100 EVM ..."

But on GUI 1.0.4.1 I found the pulses... I don't know why and now I'm investigating the cause.

Since on GUI 1.0.3.0 I didn't find the pulse, so I thought due to GUI 1.0.4.1 ...

    Kindest Regards,

    Edgard
