Hello,
Elevetor guy once tried to detect human by capacitive sensing for avoiding human get stucked into door but that time they struggled to adjust the sensitibity and now they are using some photo-interupters.
If we try to detect human detection by FDC1004 for elevetor door, do we have any idea about the sensitibity for human?
Best regards,
Toshihiro Watanabe
Hi Toshihiro:
The proximity distance of a human target is dependent on the size of the sensor. The problem associated with an elevator is all of the surrounding metal/conductive material inside and can affect the sensitivity of the system. There are ways around this though depending on the placement of the sensor and design of the elevator. For a 45cm^2 sensor size, a detection of 60-70cm can be achieve. Sensor size is not linear to proximity distance.
