LDC1000 / relationship between coil diameter and target diameter

Hello,

Could you please let me know the relationship between coil diameter and target daiameter?

I understood that the detect distance is the half of the coil diameter for high resolution sensing.
Also I understood that the inductance coil size is limited by Rp.
Thus, if we use the coil which has large diameter and low inductance expands the detect distance.
However, I think that there is the suitable coil diameter for each target size.

Hello Ryuji,

You want to make your coil same diameter as the target. Please, refer to the FAQ page that can be found here: http://e2e.ti.com/support/sensor/inductive-sensing/f/938/t/295036.aspx

You are correct: there is a suitable coil diameter for each target size. Hovewer, for the LDC1000 to work with the sensor, you need to satisfy Fsensor and Rp constains as described in the D/S.
