Formulas for Rp vs distance, resolution vs distance, inductance vs distance from webench LDC1000

What are the formulas that are used in the webench tool to calculate/plot Rp vs distance, Resolution vs distance and Inductance vs distance, depending on the diameter of the coil, target size, max distance, precision, etc.?

I can't find any document where it says how is everything calculated, and I need those formulas to run my own numbers.

Hello David,

We dont use equations to calculate the listed parameters. Electromagnetic fileds are 3 dimentional and is it quiet difficult to have a methematical model for each case. Instead, we simulate it using FEM.

Yes, I know how it works, but since the Webench tool reports a quick result and graphs giving a few parameters, I was guessing you have a simplified model for this, it is not feasible to do FEM analysis in real-time each time. I get it that for using the chip in a project the tool is OK, but I'm doing a PhD and I have to come up with an actual model that justify the numbers, even if it is not that accurate, saying I used the online tool won't do for me.

Hello David,

We are not using any formulas. However, we do have an internal model based on which the results are simulated. Since you are a student, there is not much we can do here.

I don't get the "since you are a student". I am working in a real project, trying to design a real product. I guess it comes down to signing an NDA.

I apologize; you work is important for us. However, NDA is required to share this information. You could sign an individual NDA to get the model. Please, note that you will not be able to publish or share it. I could work around and try to give you the boundary conditions. Do you think it would be sufficient for you?

It would be a great help to have the model, boundary conditions and as much information as you can share. I am aware that I will not be able to publish anything from this, but getting the product working is more important. If you could please send me the NDA to have a look at it first, to see if my managers are OK with signing it.
