Hello,

I want to know whether we can connect hdc1000 evm to any of the embedded OS linux ubuntu or win CE

so that we can receive temperature and humidity values to show in our customized UI?

And what kind of support is required on the front of hardware platform and on the front of software platform

to achieve this?

The interface to the EVM is USB, so for either Linux or Win CE all that is needed is a USB driver in order to communicate with the EVM.

USB driver for Normal Windows 7 and Win CE would be different, No?
When we try to install driver on WINCE, it failed. Then I think do we need to
write separate driver for Win CE?
If yes, how difficult is that?

Hi Chinmay,

in the MSP430 present in the EVM of the HDC1000 has been implemented a firmware which allows windows machine (Xp, 7) to recognize the EVM as a virtual com port.

I'm not sure that the same is valid for the other OS you have mentioned.

The HDC1000EVM works for sure wiht Windows Xp and Windows 7.

Hi Domenico,
This firmware allows windows machine to detect evm as com port.
Is it possible to twick the same firmware for Win CE Or Linux?
If it is not then to develop such firmware for the EVM what amount
of task is required?
I mean considering no expertise in this field, what kind of efforts one need to have
to develop such firmware?

The HDC1000EVM identifies as a terminal under linux--it's ttyACM0. What's additionally needed is information about what you must send to the terminal to get the I2C commands needed. Why not make the source for the GUI available so that this information could be reverse-engineered. Or, better still, document the terminal-to-I2C interface protocol implemented in the MSP430.
