We have a customer that is considering the LDC1000 for a new product they are developing. In their application the sensor would be operating in a pressurized environment. Pressures could reach 150 PSIG. Exposure to hydrogen gas under pressure is anticipated. Customer has the following questions:

Is the raw sensor signal actually relatable to water vapor partial pressure?
Can this be output?
How will this sensor respond to gas pressurization?
Is the sensor ‘Cross-Sensitive’ to substances other than water vapor?

Hi John,

the HDC1000 is based on a capacitive sensor. The capacitance of the sensor is proportional to the Relative Humidity and not to the Absolute Humidity.

The only data accessible are the one we present in the DS, RH and Temp.

We do not know how the sensor responds to gas pressurization.

As most of humidity sensors present in the market the HDC1000 is Cross-sensitive to substances other than the vapor.
