HDC1000 Response Time

Hi,

My customer needs 0.5s@5m/s response time.

I dont see these units on the datasheet. Is it possible I'm missing this?

    Not sure to have well understood your question.

    No problem to have a 0.5sec period for the conversion. To do this a new conversion has to be triggered every 0.5sec.

    Regarding the 5ms response time the situation is the following:

    To have an accurate measurement we suggest to convert always both humidity and temperature

    The conversion time depends on the selected resolution:

    –Humidity
    •8 bit   (Conversion time 2.5ms (typ.))
    •11 bit (Conversion time 3.7ms (typ.))
    •14 bit (Conversion time 6.5ms (typ.))
    –Temperature
    •11 bit (Conversion time 3.7ms (typ.))
    •14 bit (Conversion time 6.5ms (typ.))

    Selecting Humidity 8 bit resolution and Temperature 11bit the conversion time is: 2.5+3.7= 6.2ms

    Please let me know if it answer to the customer questions.

    From the customer:

    I am looking for response time and not the conversion time. I would like to know how many seconds it needs when there is 5m/s airflow (5 meters/sec).

    Example in this datasheet, when you look at the resolution it shows 18sec for 1m/s airflow. Ideally the I am looking for 0.5s@5m/s.

  • We don't have the right set up to test the response time as you request.

    Our set up has a fixed air flow at 1m/s.

    Customer have configured the HDC1000 in both temp & Humidity conversion mode[Writing 0x1000 in to configuration register(address:0x02)], and their feedback as below

    1)I am getting 0xFFFC as same value for both temp & Humidity when I am following the below sequence
    start,address+w,00(pointer register), stop command, wait for DRDYn to be low , start, address+Read.

    2)I am not getting the signal DRDYn  asserted if stop command is not given after start,address+w,00(pointer register).

    Kindly suggest whether stop command need to be given after the Trigger of start temperature & humidity conversion[by attempting writing 0X00 in Pointer register] before giving the read command of both Temperature & Humidity at a time.
