TMP006 The way to improve the measuring precision

Hi

My customer is using TMP006.

He want to improve the measuring precision.
He measures the object temperature from which it is 10mm away without measuring the temperature of the object around.

He has a idea that TMP006 is covered with someting like a pillar for decrease .
Is this idea corrct?

I think this idea is not correct.
I think precision is decided by setting the field of view with full range of sensor.
Could you advice me?

    We have experimented with adding metal shields with small openings, attached over the TMP006 to block unwanted IR emissions. Please refer to the "TMP007 Layout and Assembly Guide" (SBOU143), section 5, page 23, for more information about metal shielding and layout considerations.
