requirement of Hall Sensor

Guru 29710 points

Hi Team,

My customer is looking for the Hall Sensor that can detect horizontal direction as the following.

Is there any TI device that meets this requirement?
SMD(surface mount device) is also required.

Best Regards,
Yaita / Japan disty

  • Hi Yaita-san,

We have contacted our expert. He may not be able to respond for a few days.
  • Yaita-san, TI currently doesn't have a surface-mount Hall sensor that detects planar to the PCB. I have some questions for you on this:

    1. What's the application, and need for surface-mount rather than through-hole SIP?
    2. What type of Hall sensor is needed (e.g. digital switch, with what BOP?)?
    3. Is there some competitor to TI that has a device like you want?

    Best regards,
    RE
  • Hi RE-san,

Thank you for your support. I understood.
I put the information as the following.

    >1. What's the application, and need for surface-mount rather than through-hole SIP?
The application is power distribution board and my customer considers to use Hall sensor for DC current sensing.
He uses current transformer(CT) now but would like to diminish the solution size.

    >2. What type of Hall sensor is needed (e.g. digital switch, with what BOP?)?
Analog or digital output that is proportional to magnetic field intensity.
High sensitivity device is also required.

    >3. Is there some competitor to TI that has a device like you want?
    -CUR_3115(MICRONAS)
    -MLX91206(Melexis)

    Best Regards,
    Yaita

  • Yaita-san, thanks for the info.

What is your preferred sensitivity (mV/mT), and how much bandwidth do you need to detect?

    Best regards,
    RE
  • Hi RE-san,

It is still considered stage, so he doesn't have specifics yet.

    Best Regards,
    Yaita
