I am looking at TDC1000-TDC7200EVM VS. TDC1000-C2000

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TDC7200

Please clarify which EVM  module will be the correct one to purchase.

  1. I will be using a single transducer and single temperature sensor.
  2. I will be testing the transducer at distances up to  20 feet. This means I will be measuring a distance of 40 feet.
  3. Both descriptions of the EVM modules are close with the exception of the use of the TDC7200 INTEGRATED CIRCUIT.
  4. I am hoping to evaluate different ultrasonic transducers on the tanks.
  5. Is one of the two EVM's a better selection.
  6. The TDC1000-TDC7200  seams to test more features however I noticed that the TDC1000-C2000 has a selection tab which says tank level. Does this mean the TDC1000-C2000  is the better selection?

    2. Neither EVM is targeted for these distances. Please look at the PGA450 for these distances. http://www.ti.com/product/pga450-q1

The PGA450EVM increases transducer excitation voltage via transformer which will increase range.

    5. The difference between the two EVMs is the C2000 version is targeted for automotive applications while the MSP430 is more general purpose.

    6. Both EVMs have similar functionality. The difference being  the C2000 serves both as control processor and stopwatch device (TDC7200 functionality). For level only applications time measurements can be easily handled by the MSP430 standalone.

  • Matthew,
Thank you for the quick response. I will review the PGA450.
