Sensing object (Human) from distance using Inductive sensor LDC1000 or LDC1312

Hi , We are looking for a Inductive proximity sensor solution who can detect presence of object (Mainly Human) from >=6" distance.

We got Evaluation kit of LDC1000 and LDC1312.

Can these evm can simulate the scenario we are looking as when tried on LDC1000 it doesn't show any change when i bring my finger close to it. It shows change in proximity data and Inductance only if i touch the PCB inductive coil area. Doesn't look like it support much distance for human body.

Hello Bhupendar,

Inductive sensing technology (LDC1000, LDC1312) is used to detect the presence of metal objects and is not a good fit to detect the presence of humans.

Capacitive sensing is more suitable to detect the presence of humans. Please have a look at FDC2214 and FDC1004:

So by any mean we cant achieve presence of humans through these Inductive Proximity sensors from distance ( >6")?

Also does Capacitive sensor FDC2214 and FDC1004 can detect Human present > 6" distance.

Hello Bhupendar,
yes, both FDC2214 and FDC1004 can detect human presence at >6". The maximum detection range of these devices is determined by sensor plate size: the larger the sensor plate size, the further is the maximum detection range.
