I find the LM34CA (or the LM35CA) appealing to use by the hundreds in a thermal monitoring project for energy efficient homes. However, the stated accuracy on page 1, section 3 of the data sheet is contradicted by a plot found in Figure 9, page 10 of the same document.
From Page 1: "provide typical accuracies of ±1/2°F at room temperature and ±1-1⁄2°F over a full −50°F to 300°F temperature" Based on this statement, I'd be prepared to use this device for my temperature monitoring, although I'd need more information about how the accuracy falls off as the sensor 's temperature departs from room temperature.
