Hello Aditya,
I apologize for the inconvenience. I hope the LDC1101 GUI works for you now.
We are currently working on adding support for the LDC1101 to our new One UI GUI to offer an improved reliability and user experience.
Hello Ben,
Thanks for your response. The GUI does indeed work now.
When I try something and it doesn't work, it's no problem as long as I can quickly (within the tool) get a message saying "this tool is in beta - please look at forum so-and-so" to get it running. It is however frustrating when one has to look what one is doing incorrectly, only to realize that...
I had used the *previous* LDC tool. That "just worked" out of the box (s/w and hardware). With the new one, I am required to install Python (no problems) and NI framework (that takes a lot of time and space and permissions). What was the reason that you chose to integrate the tool into NI's platform? Can't it be done without? Do you plan to release a "lite" version of the LDC evaluation GUI sans any bundled NI software?
Regards,
Aditya
Hi Ben,
P.S. - Before downloading the 1101 GUI, I did first try to communicate with the Ev-Kit with the OneUI. The OneUI does 'recognize' the EvKit (and this makes you think that "it seems to be connected and working"). A "red flag" here would also be nice! (--> announcing that the kit is recognized, but as of yet unsupported).
Regards,
Aditya
Hello Aaron,
What version of Windows are you using? Windows 7 is recommended. The OneUI does not yet support the LDC1101; please use the old GUI. Can you post a screen-shot of the message on the wrong FW that the LDC1101 GUI sees on the EVM?
I have seen issues with the old GUI not connecting to the EVM due to some incomplete labview installations. Please try the following:
1) run the GUI one time as an administrator (the GUI needs to create some directories; and it may need to be admin to do that).
2) Try running /cfs-file/__key/communityserver-discussions-components-files/1023/4606.NI_5F00_Visa_5F00_RT_5F00_installer.zip to fix the Labview install.

Hi Aaron,
Thank you for providing the links. The runtime engine you installed does not support executable built with a 32 bit engine, which I believe what the GUI was built from.
Another thing to note is that Labview Run Time Engine's are not backwards compatible, you will need the RTE version the application was built from with for the .exe file to function correctly.
In addition the GUI installer should have automatically installed the correct version of the RTE, please run the setup as an administrator.
Could you please try installing the following:
http://www.ni.com/download/labview-run-time-engine-2010-sp1/2292/en/
I currently do not have access to a Windows 10 machine and will not be able to verify if this was root cause.
Regards,
Varn.
Hi Ben,
I also met the same issue when demo EVM. I also download the NI software but still not work.
Any suggestions? Thanks.
Hello Martin,
did you run the LDC1101 GUI as administrator when you tried it? It won't run as a normal user.
