What is the difference between slave mode and sync mode?

    When OPT9221 is in slave mode, a frame capture is triggered on every sync pulse on the VD_IN pin. If no sync pulses are applied, timing coordinator is halted and no further frames are captured.

    When OPT9221 is in sync mode, even if no sync pulses are applied, the OPT9221 timing coordinator continues to run and the frame capture continues like in the case of master mode. But when a sync pulse is received, the frame capture start is synchronized to the sync pulse. Please refer to "Frame Rate Control and Sub Frames" in the OPT9221 datasheet.
