TMP302C TRIPSET-pin OPEN

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMP302

Hi,

TMP302C

Let me one question.

TRIOSET0 and TRIPSET1, need to always be connected to the Vs or GND, it I understand.

When is a supposition, but, at the time of assembling, TRIOSET0 and TRIPSET1 become the OPEN state when Vs and GND do not have connection.

How does the state of the OUT# terminal turn OUT?

(Is the OUT# terminal High-level,Low-Level or the uncertainty?)

Best regards

  • Hi Cafain-san,

Let me check on this, and get back to you.

  • Hi Cafain-san,

I'm sorry that I don't quite understand your point. Let's me rephrase this, and correct me if I am wrong.

During assembly, Vs and GND of the TMP302C aren't connected to anywhere since power supply hasn't applied yet, and the TRIPSET0 and TRIPSET1 are floating. What will happen to the OUT_bar pin?

Since OUT_bar pin is an open drain; therefore, this pin can be pulled corresponding to a signal LOW, and can't pull up HIGH. A pull-up resistor must connect to this pin to restore a HIGH when the condition is met. Since power supply isn't applied, there is nothing happened to OUT_bar.

    Hope this helps!

  • Hi Arron-san

    Thank you  for your comments.

I am terribly sorry that my explanation was not enough.

    The power supply is stable.

When make TRIPSET0-pin and TRIPSET1-pin unconnected(floating), what will happen to the OUT_bar pin?

When TRIPSETx-pin made it unconnected by the issue of soldering, because it was understood what was output by OUT_bar.

    Best regards

  • Hi Cafain-san,

Not a problem, and you don't have to say "sorry". I understand it now!

Unfortunately, customer can't leave these pins floating. TMP302 is continuously monitored the TRIPSETx pin after power up. Floating these pins can cause the OUT_bar pin to trip or untrip randomly as it tries to compare the internally limit. This is not recommended.

    Hope this helps!
