Using the FD2214 with arduino to measure movement

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: FDC2214
Hi,
We wanted to use the capacitive senor for non contact movement analysis, The apparatus we have in mind is set up in such a way that the body moves only perpendicular to the sensor plate .We would love if you could help us oout with the follwing questions:-
  • Can I use the sensor to measure disatance of the body as show in the TI vedio demostrations using an arduino to read I2C(distance < 3cm)?
  • Can I get a sample data rate of at least 2K values per sec with FDC2214  +Arduino System?
  • What are the typical materials that the moving body be made of for maximum sensitivy such that the sensor plate can pick up changes in capacitance easily? Can I increase sensitivity by Grounding the material(Conductor)?
  • Will the device detect changes if I put the object around 3cm from the sensor plate and a change in +/- 1 cm?also, wats the max. distance that the sensor plate can pick up the changes in capacitance?
  • Note that the moving body only moves perpendicular to the sensor plate.
