Hello,
I'm working with a design using the LDC1101 to replace an existing mechanical potentiometer. It could be done by using a tapered piece of metal over the coil. However, would this technology work if the coil was placed underneath a tapered void in a sheet of metal? In the picture below, metal is grey, white is air, and the red is the pick-up coil. This slot would be moved along the x-axis of this image and at a constant height above the coil.
Would there be any accuracy issues compared to having a tapered metal target? Does this look like a feasible idea?
Thank you very much for your help! I really appreciate your time.
Paul
