TI Dev kit for hall effect sensor

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC2650

Hi,

I am looking for any development kit with hall effect sensor and BLE/WiFi chip  to prototype an IOT product.

Is there something available for that like of cc2650 simplelink dev kit (It doesn't have hall effect sensor in it).

Thanks & Regards,

Ajay

  • Hi Ajay,

There is nothing available. You may be able to wire a hall effect sensor to the cc2650 simplelink dev kit.
  • Ajay, we will soon be sampling our ultra low-power Hall sensors, and we plan to add it to the TI SensorTag, which currently uses a reed switch as a magnetic sensor.

    Best regards,

  • Thanks for the quick response. Is there a any link through which I can get an update once it is released. Till then we will build our solution around reed switch.

    Thanks & Regards,
    Ajay
  • Ajay, if you're building your own solution, you could easily use a Hall sensor.  The reed switch on the existing SensorTag simply controls a high/low voltage to a pin on the CC2650.  A Hall sensor will do the same thing.  Minor things to keep in mind are polarity (typical Hall sensors output Low when a magnetic field is present), and the fact that they can use a CMOS driver output that doesn't require any external pullup.

  • Thanks RE for your help.
