LDC1612: Red LED indicator

Hi TI Experts,

Please let me confirm the following question.

[Question.1]

According to the TI post, the Red LED on LDC1612 EVM will turn on when the measured EVM inductance on either channel differs from the default inductance of the EVM coil. But our EVM does not turn on even though touching the metal to coil. I used the LDC1612 Rev.A. Not B.
Does this function work with the previous LDC1612 EVM?

[Question.2]
If yes, should we update the latest firmware? I used the old firmware for previous revision EVM. I have gotten the firmware from LDC1612EVM web page but I could not confirm this function. So, would you please provide the latest one?

If you have any questions, please let me know.
Best regards.
Kaka

  • Hello Kaka,

Question 1: The LED only turns on at power up as a quick check that the coil is connected. It is not intended or acting as a threshold LED.

Question 2: Revision A and B EVMs have different firmware and are not interchangeable. You have the latest one already for Revision A. At some point we'll have a new firmware version for both EVM revisions, but a release date has not been set.

    Best regards,

    Blair

  • Hi Blair,

    Thank you for your response.
I could understand that Rev A EVM does not support the Red LED indicator function.

If I will get more questions, please let me confirm them.
    Best regards.
