Hello, i am implementing ultrasonic water flow meter and working with ultrasonic sensor that requires TDC1000/TDC7200 to be drived.

The TDC chips provided by TI is surface mounted and needs a PCB to be able to communicate with MSP430 launchpad.

Are there ready TDC chips to be interfaced directly to the launchpad?

The TDC1000-TDC7200 EVM utilizes a MSP430 as its controller. Also the firmware to interface and control the two TDC chips is included when you download the TDC1000-TDC7200 GUI. So an additional booster pack isn't required. In addition the firmware running on the MSP430 is capable of demonstrating both flow, level land concentration applications.

Good. Can i upload my own firmware ? What about if i want to interface the TDC circuit with external controller ?

Yes you can upload your own FW. You will need to stuff J1 to use a MSP430 FET probe. Connection between the micro and the TDC1000 are available via individual TPs on the board for prototyping only.
