LDC1000EVM

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LDC1000EVM, FDC2214EVM

I have several LDC1000EVM's, none of them will stay connected to the Sensing Solutions EVM GUI V1.8.8 rev.A.

I need an answer ASAP, or the part will not be consider for a project.

Best regards,

Keith Pant

  • Hi Keith,

My apologies for the problems with the LDC1000EVMs you have experienced. What version of Windows are you using?

In addition, can you provide more information on your application? There may be an LDC device better suited than the LDC1000.

  • Chris,

I am on window 7 64 bit system.

The GUI works fine with TI's FDC2214EVM.

Sorry, I cannot discuss this application on any Forum do to company restrictions.

Right now I just need to evaluated inductive sensing technology and the LDC1000EVM will allow me to do this, if a can get to work with the GUI.

Later on, I can consider better options for this application.

  • Hi Keith.

Thanks - the information that the FDC2214EVM is working greatly narrows down the possible issues. Either the EVM is non-functional or the EVM has an older version of firmware. When you plug in the EVM, do you see an indication from your PC that a device has been plugged into the USB port?

The easiest method (at this time) to update the FW is to install the older version of the LDC1000EVM GUI - it will automatically query the FW and update to the newest version. You can download the old GUI from www.ti.com/.../snac058.

  • Chris,

I had already ruled out a bad EVM, due to trying several of the units and getting the same results. The EVM is active on the USB port, verified by going to control panel, then system.

I down loaded the snac058 and installed it. It indicated the firmware was out of date. The firmware was updated and now LDC1000EVM works with both GUI's.

    Thank you for the help.

    Best regards,

  • Hello Keith,
thank you for letting us know; it is good to hear that upgrading the firmware helped. We will add an automatic firmware revision check and uploader to our new GUI in the future to prevent these issues.
