A question about LED Driver IC LM3429?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM3429

Hi TI,

I have question about LM3429,please see the follow, I hope you can help me solve it.

Q1: the Pin number 7 nDIM:  as describle in Pin function,it seems like when the voltage of the pin less than 1.24V,so LM3429 will not function,it is all right?

Q2: In LM3429 Datasheet page 13 The formula(as describle in the follow picture). we can adjust Rcsh to change the LED current, my question is if the Rcsh is setting OK,so the current of led is ILED,but when I use PWM dimming the light, the PWM Duty ratio assumed D, so the current of LED(Io)whether equal to Io=D*ILED.

about Q1&Q2,I want to know what my understand is right or wrong?

   Thanks&Regards

  • Hi None,

1: Yes. According tot he datasheet it seems that pulling nDim down will disable the converter.
2: Average current through the LED will scale by the duty cycle as we use PWM dimming.

For specific questions on this, could you please direct your questions to the forum related to power converters? You will receive your answers on that forum the best.
