Power consumption of OPT9221 low power mode

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: OPT9221

Hi guys,

There's only one sentence about the low power mode of OPT9221. I can't infer the power consumption from what is given in datasheets. Can anyone help me out? Any data or experiment data? Thanks.

  • I did some experiments myself. Here is what I got.
Scenario 1: Depth Camera is streaming with 55% illumination, 8% integration time and 60 fps. The power consumption of the entire evaluation board is around 2W.
Scenario 2: System is idle which means depth camera is not streaming.(Basically, I only turn on the power). The power consumption for the idle system is around 1W.
Scenario 3: System is standby which can be approached by changing the registers. The power consumption when the board is standby is around 0.5W.

Does scenario 3 suggest that OPT9221 low power mode still consumes 0.5W? This is quite a huge standby power for just a MPU, or this is not only OPT9221, something else is still working when OPT9221 is standby?

Please, any TI guys can answer my questions? This is very important.

  • Justin,

Sorry for the late reply. You can use the CDK schematics to infer the power supply recommendations. Each DCDC/LDO rail has a listed maximum current. What is the standby power you are aiming for?

If standby power is a serious concern, we can take the discussion to a private mail thread. Please send us an email at ti-3dtof@list.ti.com for a detailed discussion on power.

    Regards

  • Thanks for your reply. It is not critical any more.
