Hi,

I'm considering to design a temperature measurement system by TMP006/007. and the requirements are below:

1. Detect distance: 30cm ~5m

2. accuracy: +/- 1'C

Distance is far and FOV should be very small. I'd like to know if an optical system (lens system) is needed to archive these requirement?

Is there any design guide for the detecting distance and accuracy?

The field-of-view (FOV) restriction will definitely be needed for those distances. To restrict FOV and increase signal sensitivity, we recommend a through-board design as shown on page 27 of the Layout and Assembly guide. www.ti.com/.../sbou143b.pdf

We test at a distance of 2", because our black body source fills our unrestricted FOV at that distance. Your accuracy will depend on your FOV, distance and object size.

We don't have recommendations for lens systems.

If I can restrict FOV in 5 degree, may I have the measurement distance for 1~3m?

Hi Ren,
one more question, the TI agent WPI FAE always emphasize that TMP006/7 measurement distance is 10mm only.
Is that true?
