tdc7200 overflow

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TDC7200

Hello,

I wonder why on page 13 of  tdc7200 datasheet, the equation for overflow is  " Time(n) / 63" >= " COARSE_CNTR_OVF "  -  where is number " 63 " from, for what purpose ?

Thanks !

  • DL,
    The TDC7200 uses a ring oscillator as its internal time base and 63 is the total number of delay cells in the ring oscillator. The start edge cycles around the ring oscillator continuously until a stop edge arrives. The coarse counter is counting the number of passes around the loop.
    Thanks,
