TMP007 not acting normal

We are contacting you in regards of an issue discovered on the TI TMP007 chip.

During experimentation, it was discovered that, if we allow direct Sun light to hit the sensor, the temperature drops considerably. On the shade, the ambient temp sensed is around 24C but as soon as the sun light hit the sensor, it drops to around 18C.

The only think that we can think of is that the sensor is overwhelmed by the IR of the sun light (?).

Please let me know. thank you.

  • TMP007 does not respond to near infrared in the 700-2500nm range. It responds to medium to long wavelength infrared in the 4-16um range. Is it possible that it is receiving radiation from the object (or objects) providing the shade, and that in the open, it is receiving no radiation?
