OPT8241-CDK-EVM 2Kb EEPROM on illumination board

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: OPT8241, OPT9221

Hi TI,

There is a 2Kb EEPROM(CAT24C02HU4IGT3A) on illumination board.

Could you please tell me what function it is?

I want to confirm if it is necessary when I design a new board.

If I want to use VoxelViewer to execute calibration, the 2Kb EEPROM is necessary, right?

If it must be used, can I use different size of EEPROM to replace it? (ex:64Kb EEPROM)

I will appreciate your help if you can let me know your comment.

Best regards,

Eric

  • Hi Eric,

This EEPROM on the IB board is not populated on our boards and is not necessary. We do not use this EEPROM at all.

The only EEPROM used to store the calibration data is the one on the SB that also holds the FX2 firmware. Please ensure that this is a 64 kB EEPROM as the calibration data could be large for OPT8241+OPT9221.
