HDC1080 Temperature offset

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: HDC1080

Hello,

I have a question regarding sensor product HDC1080. With calibrated refernce sensors we still get an Offset error about +-1 °C. According to your datasheet, the HDC1080 is already calibrated. Is the offset over temperature range linearized, so that I can just adjust calculation?

Best Regards,

Tim

  • Hi Tim,
Yes, I confirm that the HDC1080 temperature sensor is factory calibrated. The error that you are seeing is probably due to your specific application (it depends from your PCB layout, from the sensor position, from the presence in your board of heat sources), and also its drift with the temperature strongly depend from your system.
In my opinion, the best way to proceed is to characterize your offset error at at some points of your temperature range, and evaluate if it is constant, and you can simply subtract it, or it is dependent of the temperature, and in this case you can create a lookup table that allows you to compensate the offset drift.
Please let me know if you have any doubts or needs further information.
    Best regards,
    Carmine
