TDC1000 TDC7200 EVM interfacing with PC

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TDC7200, TDC1000

Hello,

I am very new to TDC1000- TDC7200 EVM. I wanted to get the START, STOP and received echo signals on COMP_IN pin of the board to my PC for processing.

Can I get these signals to PC for processing them in MATLAB.

Thank you

  • We have not done this. We use TDC7200 or MSP430 timer or C2000 timer to measure START to STOP delay. COMP_IN echo is further processed by TDC1000 to generate the STOP output.

    Thanks,

  • Hello

    Thank you for your reply.

I am also getting another problem. I can not get the TOF measurements and stop pulses even when  I am getting echo amplitudes greater than the set echo qualification threshold. I am measuring the echo amplitudes on DSO.

    Thank you.

  • Please describe your setup and application. Are you doing a level or flow measurement? What transducer are you using and how is it mounted. Also, please share register setup (you can save all the registers in a config file and upload it).
You can find a number of application notes to review here

  • Hello Sir,

I am using TDC1000 TDC7200 EVM for contamination identification in water. I am currently using two  Steminc 15mm 1Mhz transducers. These transducers are mounted on opposite sides of plastic container of width 9.5cm using a CA glue.

These are my registration configuration for TDC1000.  TDC7200 is operated in measurement mode 2 and the trigger update frequency is 500 ms.

I have connected my CRO probe to COMP_IN pin and I am seeing maximum peak to peak amplitude of 200 mV for PGA gain of 21 dB. But I am not seeing stop pulses or TOF is not measured.

Please tell me if there are any mistakes in configuration of TDC1000, TDC7200 or mounting and choice of the sensors

    Thank you

  • You have selected TOF measure mode as Mode 2 in CONFIG2 register. Mode 2 is for flow measurement. Mode 1 is for the pitch/catch configuration you are trying with 2 transducer in which one sends and the other receives.

Also, for concentration kind of application you can start with 1 transducer in mode 0. As the container width is fixed, the TOF is dependent on the concentration. There's an app note on that.

    Thanks,
