Measure coil inductance

HI,

I have a latching valve that I want to be able to read the position on, the coil measure 11 ohm and 15mH.

There is a difference in approx. 500uH between OPEN and CLOSED position, so my question is, can I use the LDC1000 to measure this difference?

Hello Frank,
What is the self-resonant frequency of your sensor? 15mH will likely have a self resonant frequency less than 500kHz. If you operate an LC tank above the self resonant frequency of the inductor then it starts to act like a capacitive element. We recommend to operate <10x below the self resonant frequency of your inductor to get the optimal performance.

Hi Luke,

Its not a sensor, its a valve with a coil. Just want to measure the inductance on it.
