DRV5033 how to avoid output indeterminate status

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV5033

Dear Sir,

DRV5033 once  the device is powered on with the magnetic field strength BRP < B < BOP, then the device output is

indeterminate and can either be Hi-Z or pulled low. Is there any way to avoid this situation? Is there any way to  measure BOP and BRP value? Thnaks.

  • Lucifer, I don't know of a workaround to your specific question, but I think a more significant factor is device-to-device variation of BOP.  Taking the DRV5033 AJ for example, one device could have 5mT BOP and another device could have 8mT BOP.  For the first device, the hysteresis region (BRP < B < BOP) is around 3-4mT.  For the second device it's around 5-7mT.  My point is, if you power up a device and a 7mT field is present, the output will be indeterminate because the threshold of that particular unit might be above or below 7mT.  To have a known output, >max-BOP or <min-BRP should be applied.

    Best regards,
