Synchronise 4 LDC1614

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LDC1614

Hello,

I need to use 4 LDC in order to mesure on 16 Coils.

I search a way to synchronise my LDC in order to avoid noise between Coils.

If i have 4 LDC1614 ( A / B /C / D) with 4 Channel, i want to start A1 in the same time than B1&C1&D1

A1 A2 A3 A4 B1 B2 B3 B3 C1 C2 C3 C4 D1 D2 D3 D4

If you have an idea to do this, i'm looking to play with external clk

Best Regards

  • Hello Mathieu,

Here are a few suggestions for minimizing the cross-talk between different coils

    1. Try to arrange the coils such that the ones turning on at the same time are not right next to each other.
    2. Use the same external clock for all LDCs to synchronize them.
    3. Use a larger settle count, i.e. increase the inactive time between different channels, in order to minimize undesired overlap time of different channels.

    Regards,
    Yibo
  • Hello Yibo,

    Thanks for your answer.

    For 1 : I already do it

For 2 : It's the fisrt idea, i want also to test with dedicated clock ( same component ) and try too release component with sleep mode I2C commandin the same time.

    For 3 : It's a good Idea

    Regards,

    Mathieu

  • If I well understood the datasheet, the only way to do the synchronisation is to put alternatively each LDC in sleep normal mode and then in sleep mode after 4 conversions (1 on each input).
The datasheet indicate (p16) that the first conversion start after 16384 Fint clock cycles.
however Fint is not very accurate.
Do you confirm the first conversion start after 16384 Fint clock even if we use external clock? (or is it 16384 Fclin cycle in this case?)
