HDC1010EVM: HDC1010EVM Inaccurate samples

Part Number: HDC1010EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: HDC1010, , CC1310

Hi All,

We considering to use HDC1010 sensor, we get evaluation board for the HDC1010, we put the HDC1010EVM in cell temperature with 5 C temperature to test the sensor, we are getting 7 C, to make sure that the cell is calibrated we put another accurate sensor and the cell and the other sensor samples are the same.

Did the HDC1010EVM calibrated?

Is there a way to calibrate the HDC1010EVM?

  • Hello,
For temperature sensor evaluation we warmly suggest in the HDC1010EVM to separate the sensor board from the micro controller board, and connect them using wires.
This should completely remove the self-heat generated by the EVM microcontroller, and you should be able to see that the accuracy of the temperature sensor is the one reported in the datasheet (±0.2deg typ.).
Please let me know if this solves your issue.
    Best regards,
    Carmine
  • Hi Carmine, and thank you for answering,
Let assume that the solution is to separate the sensor board from the micro controller board, but in our SensorTag we want that both of them to be on the same board, our MCU is cc1310/50, so how can we be sure that this problem not gonna happen in our SensorTag?
  • Hi Carmine,

We separate the sensor from the EMV and connect the sensor with wire(35 cm,13.77 inch), we put the sensor in the temperature cell and the EVM outside.

    Results:

    - The THERMOMETER celebrated last week

    - Are you sure the the sensor calibrated?

    - Did there an option to manufacturer reset?

  • Hello,

I confirm that the temperature sensor is calibrated and the accuracy is ±0.2%.

I have also tested here in our labs 10 HDC1010EVMs and the results are in line with the expectation.

My test setup is the following:

    • a climatic chamber, in order to control the environment around the sensor;
    • a reference sensor (Rotronic HC2-S Humidity Probe;
    • 10 HDC1010EVMs from TI store.

The results I got are the following:

Could you please provide more details about your setup?

    Best regards,

    Carmine

  • Thank you Carmine,

    Our test environment setup:

    Equipment:

    -  HDC1010EVM devices.

    - TERM2420, calibrated and accurate(+-0.1 c) temperature sensor.

    - Climatic chamber(Thermotron 2800, +-1 c).

    Test process:

1- We put the devices :HDC1010EVM and TERM2420 in the Climatic chamber.

2- Take sample from the HDC1010EVM and the TERM2420..

    3- Change Climatic chamber temperature.

4- Back to 2 each few hours.

    Result:

    - Time between samples more than 1 hour.

Did there is away to calibrate the HDC1010EVM?

  • Hi Carmine Iascone,
Any new about the HDC1010 accuracy?
