FDC1004QEVM: Missing driver for Windows 8.1 64 Bit

Part Number: FDC1004QEVM

I have installed the newest version of Sensing Solutions EVM GUI-1.9.1 and the installation process stated "driver installed". But when I connected  the FDC1004QEVM at the GUI I got "Not connected" and "Ready".

The device manager coordinated "MSP430-USB Example" to the EVM device with "driver not installed,(Code 28) System cannot find the stated file". The same happened when I installed the driver from GUI > EVM Driver containing evm.inf (10.09.2015 01:02) and msp430_cdc.cat (10.09.2015 01:02): "Driver software was found, but on installation an error happened. EVM. TheSystem cannot find the mentioned file."

  • Hi Tilmann,

Just to clarify, are you saying the connection is unstable and jumps between "Not connected" and "Ready"?

What driver are you looking for and trying to install? Are you trying to fix the unstable connection by re-installing the driver?

    Thanks,

    Rachel

  • Hi Rachel,

    sorry, unfortunately not.

    I have to install the USB-Driver corresponding to the installation process of FDC1002EVM User's Guide snau163c.pdf chapter 3.2 pages 11 .. 13.

The installation process was running absolutely correct including Figure 10 and 11.

When starting the GUI all is running fine, but following chapter 3.5 I do not get any connection and the device manager of Windows 8.1(64) shows"MSP430-USB Example" instead of EVM and there is no driver file corresponding to Figure 10 installed.
And all my attempts to install the driver (C:\ti\Sensing Solutions EVM GUI-1.9.1\EVM Driver) manually failed as described before.

    Exact copy of the message:

Fehler beim Installieren der Treibersoftware fuer das Geraet.
Es wurde Treibersoftware fuer das Geraet gefunden, aber bei der Installation ist ein Fehler aufgetreten.
    EVM
Das System kann die angegebene Datei nicht finden

  • Hi Rachel,

    some additional details:

Now I have changed the HD and the operating system to Windows 7-64, installed the software the same way as my first attempt on W8.1-64 - now all is running ok, connection takes place using W7-64. But I need it running under W8.1-64.

Looking what you will find at the device manager: now there is a entry at connections (COM & LPT) named EVM(COM4) with driver from Texas Instruments, dated 11.02.2014, version 1.3.0.0, signature Microsoft Windows Hardware Compatibility, driver file C:\Windows\system32\Drivers\usbser.sys (from Microsoft Corporation, file version 6.1.7601.17514(win7sp1_rtm.101119-1850) signature Microsoft Windows with serial protocol 9600/8/-/1/-.

The main difference to W8.1-64 was to see after reboot and connecting the FDC1004QEVM: the Windows system was missing the driver and installing it by itself.

  • Hi Tilmann,

I'd suggest using the Windows 7-64 system for now - we'll have to wait for our software engineer to return from the holidays to determine the issue with the different operating system.

    Thanks,

    Rachel
