HDC1080: HDC1080 and HDC1010 about EMC issues

Part Number: HDC1080
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: HDC1010,

Hi Team,

The customer will use HDC1080 and HDC1010 in a magnetic field environment.

Q1:  The customer needs to know if there are the internal crystal oscillators for these two devices.

Q2:If there are the internal crystal oscillators for these two devices,  are the crystal oscillators signals done  shielding measures inside of the two chips?  Does the customer need to consider the EMC problem in practical applications for the two devices?

Q3: The customer needs to know if the IIC signals and the internal AD be easily influenced by the magnetic field environment.

If  the IIC signals and the internal AD can be easily influenced by the magnetic field environment, how to solve the issue?

  • Supplementary question:
Q4: If there is not a crystal oscillators, how does the IIC communication and AD convertion work? where is the clk from?

  • Hi Mickey,
HDC1080 and HDC1010 have a ring oscillator that generates the internal clock for all the blocks of the device.

The TI's humidity sensors behave like any other standard electronic components: electromagnetic fields of extreme intensity could adversely affect the performance of the devices, while moderately intense magnetic fields do not affect the behavior of HDC10x0.

Please let me know if this reply to your questions.

Could you please let me know more details regarding the customer application, and the intensity of magnetic fields with which they have to do?

Thanks in advance for your gentle reply.

    Best regards,
    Carmine
  • Hi haitao,
As reported in the previous post, HDC1080 and HDC1010 have a ring oscillator that generates the internal clock for all the blocks of the device.

Please let me know if this reply to your question.

    Best regards,
    Carmine
  • the intensity of the magnetic field  center  is 1.5T,

But the humidity sensors is put away from the center of the magnetic field

What is the range of   the moderately intense magnetic fields which do not affect the behavior of HDC10x0?

    Best regards,

  • HI Carmine,

Thanks a lot for your reply.

Trouble you again, when the HDC10x0 is in sleep mode, does the ring oscillator stop work? That is, there is no clock ?

  • Hi Carmine,

what is the frequency of the ring oscillator of HDC10X0?
