TDC1000-TDC7200EVM: TDC1000-TDC7200EVM

Part Number: TDC1000-TDC7200EVM

I am using TDC1000-TDC7200EVM with MSP430F5528 MCU . I need to find the quality and temperature of tha Adblue solution. For temperature i am using NTCLE100E3 THERMISTOR. How to interface this thermistor with tdc1000 ? if possible may i get the circuit diagram ? asap

  • The TDC1000 is designed for use with an RTD, which increases in resistance with rising temperature. A thermistor is a negative temperature coefficient component which will decrease in resistance with an increase in temperature. You can still use a thermistor, but it will need a 0*C resistance of either 500ohm or 1000ohm and you will have to calculate the temperature from the measured resistance differently.

This app note describes the use of an RTD for temperature measurement with the TDC1000: www.ti.com/.../snaa230.pdf

To interface with the TDC1000 you just connect one terminal to either RTD pin on the TDC1000, and one terminal to ground.

    Regards,
  • Thanks. Is there any specific RTD that is used to be connected with TDC1000-TDC72000 EVM ?
  • I have one more doubt. then Can i use PTC thermistor instead of RTD ? if so what PTC should i use ? why i am asking is my size should be minimum for measurement if i use RTD then size becomes a problem.
  • Any RTD that is PT500 or PT1000 will work. In fact, you can use almost any device whose resistance varies with temperature. The TDC1000 simply converts the resistance value of the device into a time between stop pulses that can then be measured by the TDC7200. As long as you can properly interpret the resistance value to determine the temperature then it will work.

    Regards,

  • thanks scott, can i have any example project diagram or video regarding tdc1000-tdc7200evm ? you know i tried a lot with this evm but i couldn't find anything. please asap.
