DDC112: DDC112

Part Number: DDC112

Are TI, trade journal, or peer reviewed articles available the discuss pros and cons of direct digitization of photodiode current with the DDC112 rather than conventional conversion of photodiode current to voltage with a transimpedance amplifier prior to analog-to-digital conversion?

My question is in context of field-portable LED source/photodiode detector device for absorbance and fluorescence measurements.

  • Hi Charles,

I am not aware of any article or publications that highlights the comparison between the two methods.
A comparison should be doable based on the listed specs of the DDC112 vs whatever alternative TIA based solution.
In theory integrating approaches (where the feedback resistor is “infinite”) yield lower noise than multiplying TIA-type approaches (finite feedback resistor) although the response of the system is different.
