This is JC Chen, President of Taiwan Biophotonic Co. (tBPC). We have developed the world first and only pulse oximeter that measures heart rate (HR) and blood oxygen level (SpO2%) directly on the wrist, without clamping a sensor probe on the finger.
All current traditional pulse oximeters in the market must require to clamp a sensor probe on the patient’s finger. This sensor probe may cause finger pain or thrombisis for wearing time over 2 hours. This sensor probe will interfere the normal activity of patient. This sensor probe will be easily loosen off from the finger.
The performances of our oCare Wrist Pulse Oximeter, Model Pro 100 (oCare Pro 100) have been clinically validated by human clinical trial at the hospital. We have received the Medical Devices CE Marking Certificate of oCare Pro 100 from the EU Notified Body on Jan. 21th, 2017. oCare Pro 100 is also the first Smart Watch with Medical Devices Certificate. oCare Pro 100 is particular useful for patients with chronic respiratory diseases (for example, COPD, OSA) who need continuous pulse oximetry monitoring.
I wish to share this credit with the Texas Instrument, because one of key components of oCare Pro 100 is AFE4404. The other key component is our unique Reflective PPG Sensor (oCare Sensor OCS 110). oCare Sensor is built with three LEDs (G/R/IR) and one Photodiode, each LED die is separately encapsulated with a cannonball shaped lens and the Photodiode is covered by a encapsulated layer with DOE (micro-structure) surface. Our oCare Sensor is also the world first and only Reflective PPG Sensor that has actually be used in a wrist device for measuring HR and SpO2 on the wrist.
I saw a paper titled “Data acquisition for wearables and in-patient monitoring, IEEE Xplore, 11 August 2016, by Ajit Sharma, Praveen Aroul, Tarkesh Pande, Amy Schnoor and, Karthik Soundarapandian. Please contact with me at JC.Chen@tbpchc.com.
