AFE5818EVM: Is there dedicated GUI?

Part Number: AFE5818EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AFE5812EVM, AFE5818, AFE5812

Hello,

1. Is the HMC-DAQ GUI, v2.8 (Rev. A)  has the same functionality over the AFE5818EVM as AFE5812EVM GUI (Rev. A) over the AFE5812EVM?

2. Is there dedicated GUI for AFE5818EVM?

3. Is the only way to get digital data from AFE5818EVM is via LVDS and TSW1400EVM?

Thanks.

  • Hi Igor,

Please try to put all your questions in a single thread. The AFE5818 uses the HMC-DAQ GUI suite which is designed as a multi-device GUI (no standalone GUI).
What exactly do you mean by "same functionality?". The GUIs are different as the AFE5812 is different from the AFE5818.
Lastly, just like the AFE5812EVM, the AFE5818EVM's digital data is only available by serial LVDS. In addition to the TSW1400, you can also use an FPGA to deserialize and clock in the serial LVDS data for further processing.

    Sincerely,
    Olu
  • Thanks Olu,

Now, I have installed the HMC-DAQ GUI on my Windows 7 computer.

The installation went smoothly, but I can't start the program.

    Receiving the following error:

  • This question is answered in another thread here.

    Olu

  • I do not yet have any device connected to the PC.
I just wanted to see if I can get the GUI working before I commit to 1250$ on devices.
Shouldn't HMC-DAQ at least start without any device being connected?
  • Hi Igor,

The HMC-DAQ GUI suite is a proven solution used across multiple devices. Many of our customers have successfully used it to configure and evaluate our devices to date and I am certain you will be satisfied with its performance.
It is difficult for me to debug the exact problem you are seeing without a target device in mind so I recommend getting an EVM first and then reaching out to me if you have any problems. Thanks for your understanding.

    Sincerely,
    Olu
