AFE5809EVM: LVDS Output Data Format - I and Q

Hi,

I have a basic question regarding LVDS output data format rate from AFE5809EVM. As seen in page 68 of AFE5908EVM datasheet

For single channel A: we have A.I and A.Q in sequence, assuming 16 bit data output.

After deserializing, we should expect I - 16 bit and Q - 16bit in sequence and this continues. Is this the correct way the to decode I and Q output, as we have separate lines for I and Q in our processing block.

Any help would be really appreciated! Thanks!

Hi Raunaq,

Table 13 on Page 67 is a better guide for decoding I, Q data depending on your settings.

Hi Olu,

My setting is as I mentioned in previous post - M>4 which gives: A.I, A.Q (zeros) in LVDS2

is A.I 16 bit and A.Q 16 bit? Do I have decode them 16 by 16 separately? Or do I have to decode them as 32 bit?

I need to separate I and Q.

Hi Raunaq,

The number of bits depends on your serialization rate--Page 66 and other parts of the datasheet go over the serialization for the device.

There are only 2 options. 14 and 16 bits. I'm choosing 16 bit serialization. So would my case be true as I propose: 16 bit I and 16 bit Q in my two previous posts? I want to know if I'm approaching this the right way.
