AFE58JD18: Pinout compatibility to AFE5818

Part Number: AFE58JD18
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AFE5818

Developing data aquisition system that involves larges number of the aforementioned converters.

I'd like to consider designing the board that would be able to support both LVDS and JESD device. According to their respective datasheets they look identical in pinout except of single pin SPI_DIG_EN (K16) in JESD device. This pin does not exists in LVDS device (is NC there).

The signal allows programming the optional block in the AFE58JD18 which does not exists in AFE5818.

I'm willing to understand whether there is any limitation on this aspect..

Would I routing the PCB for JD part with any active level on K16 ball and then assemblying LVDS device (that is NC on that particular pin), is there any chances it may harm in any way the LVDS device ?

What is behind the definition of NC in the package ?

Thanks in advance, Alex
