LMP91300: Supply current, 2 wire/3wire application and EVM

Part Number: LMP91300

Dear team,

My customer are considering AFE for proximity sensor. So I promoted LMP91300 but the customer want to know below. Would you please review below request and let me know your opinion.

<request>

  1. At datasheet, the supply current is 3mA(TYP). But the customer want to have AFE having below 0.8mA current(2-wire configuration). Is the supply current same between 3-wire and 2wire configuration.

  2. At datasheet, there are 3-wire NPN and PNP configuration. Is it possible to share application note of 2 wire configuration?

  3. Is there an EVM of LMP91300?

Thank you.

  • Hello,

    The current consumption of the device is 3mA which does not include external currents such as LED, SWDRV, and LC tank currents. Traditionally, this device is not intended for low power operation.  If lower power draw is needed, they will need to duty cycle the device, but given the additional currents and the power on start time is characterized to be 50ms they may not be able to achieve 0.8mA depending on how often they need to sample.

    Also, by 2-wire communication, do they mean to simply supply VDD and GND, then monitor the current draw? The primary applications for the device include either a SWIF to read the proximity data  or the SWDRV pin which can be used as a switch output as shown in figures 19 and 20 of the LMP91300 datasheet.

    Lastly, there is no EVM available on the e-store. I've attached preliminary copies of the user's guides for the PNP, NPN, and SWIF programming boards which include the schematic, layout, and bom recommendations.
