Hi,

Which series (AWR or IWR : 1443 or 1642) is suitable for this applications:?

- blind spot detection (BSD), lane change assistant (LCA)

What is the update rate of range estimation and angle estimation in this applications[50 meter for detection of human and car] ?(Hz)

Which series (AWR or IWR : 1443 or 1642) is suitable for long range radar (LLR), automatic cruise control (ACC) and forward collision warning (FCW) [100-150 meter for human and car detection]? What is the update rate?(Hz)

Hello Amin,
Since the applications you are targeting are automotive , the AWR series is what you should be looking at. For mid range applications like LCA AWR1642 would be more suitable. For long range applications like ACC and FCW AWR1243 is suitable.

In terms of the udpate rate, this would depend on the final frame time used in the chirp configuration. We provide a sensing estimator tool (dev.ti.com/.../) that helps analyze the chirp configuration based on your requirements.

Hello Vivek,
Thanks for your reply. I've compared both IWR1642 and AWR1642 series, both are very similar. The only difference is: Operating Temperature Range (C). Why IWR1642 is not suitable for this application(LCA)?

Hello Amin,
Typically for automotive application qualifications like the AEC Q100 are required which are available for the AWR series and not the IWR series. Operating junction temperature range is another factor that restricts the usage of IWR devices in automotive applications.
