Need advice for chip selecting of fishfinder

Greeting.

Our company is developing a handheld wireless fishfinder and I am supposed to choose the chip.

I had found some of them like PGA460-Q1 and AFE5809.

But PGA460-Q1 is designed for in- air applications and AFE5809 has eight input channels and its price is too high for handheld fishfinder.

So what I am looking for is a SoC or Chip which can be a central processor for a fishfinder.

Like AFE5809,but for one channel.

I am open to any suggestions and I would be thankful for any kind of advice.

Actually I am spending several days because of that.

But what I am looking for is a ultrasonic transceiver with an integrated AFE for one channel.

Hello Chai LinNam,

I checked with the business unit responsible for these types of devices and the closest device we have to what you need is the 2-CH VCA2615 (in the slides).

Thanks again Jeffery Pfarr for your reply.

We can find wireless fishfinder on the market cost about at 40USD.

VCA2615 cost more than 10 USD and I don't think they use this amplifier.

What do you think?

Hello Chai LinNam,

I think you are right! If you are designing a low cost sonar (ultrasound) fish finder, it will have limited receive sensitivity and ultrasound output power. It also may not have a display and have either audible indicators or an LCD range readout. Our VCAs and AFEs are not really designed for this target market. Your design may look more like the attached schematic which is a simple ultrasound range finder (3+ meter maximum range). Of course, the range can be extended by driving higher voltage Tx devices or improving Rx circuit sensitivity (increased gain, low noise).
