AWR1642: Skipping the comment section when using mmWave Demo Visualizer

Hello,

We have a prototype board that is being connected to the computer via a XDS110 Debug Probe. When using the mmWave Demo Visualizer program, the "SEND CONFIG TO MMWAVE DEVICE" command results in the following error:

Now if we delete the comment section of the code (first 11 lines as shown below) and then use the "LOAD CONFIG FROM PC AND SEND" command, the board is able to upload the code.

So my question is how exactly does the chip know to skip the first 11 lines of the code?

The snapshot of the error seems to show only the "skipped" line, could you clarify the error you see?

The code doesn't upload. It just stops after the "skipped" line.

If we remove the comments, we are able to get the "sensorStart" command and everything works well.

One thing I just noticed is if I just delete couple of the stars from lines 1 and 11 of the code, the board is able to upload the code. Could it just be a timing issue?

Hello Faiz,

Could you please check profile config file if it has any special characters as Visualizer console snapshot you have attached shows some special characters.

We have tried sending profile configuration with the different length of comments string and it works (getting proper plots).

AWR1642 MMW application checks for the first character of each command (receives over UART) with '%' character. If it matches then it treats that command as a comment and skips that command. For more detail, you can check the CLI driver source code available in mmWave-SDK (packages\ti\utils\cli\src\cli.c: CLI_task).

Further, you can use CCS development mode to check MMW demo status when you are facing this issue. Follow section 3.3.2 of mmwave sdk user guide for CCS development mode.
