AWR1642: Questions regarding the hardware design checklist

Part Number: AWR1642

Hello,

I just had a couple of questions regarding the hardware design checklist:

1) What is the necessity of having pull-up resistors for the UART signals?

2) If a signal is not being used, is it still necessary pull-up/down resistors. For example, is it necessary on the SYNCIN line to have a 100k pull down resistor or can it just be left open?

3) On row 23 of SCH_checklist tab regarding SOP signals, there might be an error as the description says to use 10k resistors but the BOM Description says "47k pulls."

Thanks,

Faiz

  • Hello Faiz,

    1) The pulls on the UART lines is purely to avoid any false glitch incase the UART is configured to observe a change in state of the lines. If that is not a concern in the application these pulls can be avoided.
    2) If hardware trigger option is not being set then the pull on the SYNCIN line can be eliminated. If its is being used then its recommended to have this pull to avoid any false triggering of frames.
    3) You are right, there is a mistake. The pulls should be 10K , not 47K.

    Regards,
    Vivek
