AWR1642: Questions about the Build-in Firmware (ROM)

I have some questions about the ROM in the AWR1642 chip:

(1) What is the ROM used for? I guess it is the bootloader and the SPI programmer, is that right?

(2) Will the firmware for the ROM be pre-programed with a new AWR1642 chip? Do I need to program the ROM before the first time I use it?

Answering your questions:

1. Yes, as you noted, the ROM is primarily responsible for the bootloading of the device firmware and application image - either from the Serial Data Flash (if connected) or over SPI (if SDF is not connected) along with some device initialization and safety test sequences. You may refer to http://www.ti.com/lit/an/swra551/swra551.pdf for the bootloader flow that executes out of ROM.

2. Yes, the ROM firmware will be pre-programmed with a new AWR1642 chip.
