AWR1642BOOST: Power Supply

Part Number: AWR1642BOOST
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AWR1642

We're thinking of using an Acopian A5MT510 linear power supply for the AWR1642 evaluation board.  Have you seen any impact on RF performance with switching power supplies?  The Acopian seems like an upper bound.  Can you comment on a lower bound, e.g. what to avoid, if anything?

  • Hello Robert,
You can use switching power supply to power the AWR1642 EVM. Since we have onboard regulators, the input 5V supply ripple is filtered to a large extent before the final supply reaches the AWR1642 device.
We would recommend using a short power cable to reduce the IR drop during the transmit period . The input voltage should not dip below 4.5V at the point of maximum current consumption.

    Regards,
    Vivek
