AWR1642: How to update the firmware at run-time?

Part Number: AWR1642

Hi,

After customer installed the AWR1642 on the car, if they want to update the firmware, how to do? I don't find related code in mmwave sdk1.0.

Thanks,

  • Hi Chris,

In order to update the code/firmware I am assuming you are asking how to get the updated images to on board Flash memory. The device can be put in Flashing mode to update the onboard flash by  controlling the SOP pins of AWR1642 to select flashing mode on device.

Please check the AWR1642 Bootloader Flow for details of boot and image files.

    Thank you,

    Vaibhav

  • Vaibhav,

Customer wants to update the firmware when the radar board is already mounted on customer's final products. They don't want to change the SOP setting. Is there any other way to update the firmware through UART/CAN without changing the SOP setting?

    Thanks,
  • Chris

    • In-system programming capability essentially needs to be integrated with customer's application using customer's interface of choice (for example CAN in the case of automotive applications)
    • For automative applications, this aspect usually is a subset of the overall in-vehicle communication solution (TI does provide CAN and QSPI drivers as reference in the SDK distribution but the complete in-vehicle communication solution is not in the scope of Radar Sensor's SDK)
    • We would be keen to hear your response on this post and take the discussion further if you have specific feedback on this subject
