OPT8241-CDK-EVM: what is the scale under the default calibration setting

I tried to measure the scale of the saved point cloud from voxel viewer:

I got below approximate result (box size: 14cm D, 20cm W, 29cm H):

0.17 = 14cm

1 unit = 0.8m

0.48 = 20cm

1unit = 0.4m

0.68 = 29cm

1 unit = 0.4m

I wonder if above scale is right?

Is that any procedure to make it as 1 unit = 1m. Thanks.

It looks like the camera is out of calibration. Even if inside default profile if you change illumination power the calibration will be off. Try select MetrilusLongRange(HW) profile and measure again without changing anything, and make sure box is not saturating. If that still doess't give reasonable result the default calibration is off.

Under Windows, I used Voxel viewer, and I selected "MetrilusLongRange(HW) profile" in camera profile. Did I miss any other step? Thanks.

Can I ask two questions:

1. If I just unbox the sensor, do I need to do calibration?
2. What is the unit of x,y,z?

Hi Raymond,

1) If you use the OPT8241-CDK-EVM, this is pre-calibrated at our factory. You simply need to ensure you are uing the "Metrilus Long Range (HW)" profile from the "Camera Profiles" menu in VoxelViewer. If you change the operating conditions (like frame rate, illumination power, etc), then the calibration is no longer valid and you will need to calibrate again.

2) The units of x, y, z in the point cloud data is metres.

I am using Voxel SDK (C++), do I need to set (how) it to Metrilus Long Range (HW) mode before start streaming data? Thanks.
